School System & Community Partnership Gives Teachers A LIFT

A few days ago, 24 Troup County School System (TCSS) teachers switched places and became the students as they participated in the LaGrange Industrial Fellowship for Teachers (LIFT) program.

This community partnership between TCSS, Development Authority of LaGrange, and LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce provided a one week summer externship experience for local teachers to visit manufacturing companies throughout the county.

Brake maker Advics, formerly Safa, marks 20 years in Troup County

A local manufacturer that employs 300 people and makes brake pads for Toyota, Ford and Chrysler celebrated 20 years in Troup County on Tuesday.

Advics Manufacturing Georgia, 1621 W. Lukken Industrial Dr. — formerly Safa — hosted its parent company’s executives from Japan for the name-change and anniversary celebration. The event included guest speakers, including Mayor Jim Thornton, and was attended by council member Norma Tucker and other city officials.
